It’s the first time I’ve managed to sit down and draw thanks to being in bed with gout all weekend. Summer berries – to bring in an whiff of the warmest season even though it’s raining loads as per usual in England.
The base of this piece was done with markers, an unusual medium for me. It was rather simpler than hobbling about trying to get water and gouache prepped. But it’s just as effective and what I really wanted was to let the Polychromos pencils* shine.
Reds, pinks and greens made the strawberries, raspberries and cherries come to life, while the white added details and highlights.
Look at that texture! There’s nothing quite like colour pencils* to add beauty to a drawing.
Shall I do a regular feature like this one and call it “Work in Progress Wednesday”? Let me know in the comments!
