old work i still love today

A long, long time ago, I can still remember when pastels used to make me… SMILE! Well, they still do now… this is a 2004 painting ‘Feather and Egg’ I made using oil pastels (Pentel, I think) and it’s a piece I still really love today.

Thankfully I still have the original, a rarity for pieces I made back then, because I used to sell (shock! horror! says the Arati of today!) My originals at exhibitions when I lived in New Delhi.

Framing can change the entire profile of a piece

These days, I am very reluctant to part with originals because so much hard work goes into them.

Nevertheless, commissions have to go to new homes, and once in a while I will have to cull my stack of original art, I suppose! Sign up to my email list if you’re interested in knowing when I do that.
