exhibition: christian dior at the v&a museum

The Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at the V&A – what a spectacle!!!!!! It has to be one of the best fashion exhibits I’ve ever seen, second only to Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the V&A.

It was by chance that I went to see it, in fact. I was meeting a friend who had come in from India, and we had a very narrow window of time in which to meet. So, we went to the Saatchi Gallery and had some tea and cakes, and then while walking around afterwards, this popped up on our radar, so of course we went in! And thank goodness we did.

The images I took were just a smidgen of the hundreds of pieces there. These are the ones that inspired me most, not just for the overall look but the detail and work that went into them, for example… these ones below (use the slider to see the full dress and a detail):
