Silk (pongee 5) scarf with rolled hem. 45 x 150 cm long. Hand-painted using gutta and silk paints.
Citrus colours are everywhere in spring – wherever you look, lime greens and yellows are evident in blooms and foliage. Lemons and limes are just coming into peak season, and lemonade was the inspiration for this scarf (and also, oddly enough, Dr Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham which was trending online the other day, hence the title of this piece). At the moment there’s only the one scarf in these colours, but they’re so lovely and calming, I might do a series. This first one will always be my favourite. Whether you wear it knotted or as a stole, all angles will be beautiful.
I treated the scarf as though it was a long fabric sketch, and applied water-based gutta resist and silk paint in multiple layers.
